Attendees will also have a chance to meet and greet club officers and other current members to ask questions, share thoughts, etc.

If you are either a member or guest and would like to offer to bring a dish for the potluck, please contact Ally Dunn at [email protected].

Chartered in 1971, Boston Toastmasters is one of the oldest Toastmasters clubs in Massachusetts. Throughout the years times have changed, and with them Boston Toastmasters. In fact, things looked dire for the club in the spring of 2011, when membership had fallen to just six individuals. However, with a new website and hard work from the club’s leaders, the group rallied—and grew exponentially. Just five years later, membership stands at 84 club members—one of the largest clubs in the US. Club initiatives like the Race to CC, the Leadership Accelerator Program, Role Raffle, Summer Picnic, Club Officer Training, Toastx, and Evaluation Workshop set it apart from thousands of other Toastmasters chapters in the US. As it nears the half-century mark, Boston Toastmasters continues to embrace new technology and approaches to help it fulfill the Toastmasters mission: provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.

We hope you will join us on March 1st, 2016 at our Open House and 45th Anniversary Celebration!

Boston Toastmasters Wins District 31 20.20.20 Contest

Boston, MA: Boston Toastmasters was recognized on the District 31 website, www.district31.org, for being one of the first 20 clubs to submit at least 20 member renewals by September 20th, 2015. Toastmasters District 31 comprises 211 Toastmasters clubs in Rhode Island and Eastern Massachusetts.

In addition to being featured on the District 31 website, Boston Toastmasters will receive a visit from one of the three district leaders, Rick Winer, Stefano McGee, or Anna Kaufman, who will formally present the club with an award ribbon for their achievement. “This is the first-ever 20.20.20 competition and I’m proud of the way our club’s officers and members have pulled together to make this one of our earliest dues renewal drives. We pride ourselves on being an innovative Toastmasters club— which is a direct result of our incredible membership and a fantastic team of officers,” club Treasurer Jesse Welty noted. He added, “There are still a number of members who have yet to renew their dues. I hope they decide to stay with Boston Toastmasters. I’m here to help with any dues-renewal questions they may have.”

The Toastmasters dues cycle runs from October 1st to March 31st, with a new 6-month term beginning on April 1st and running until September 30th. Clubs set their own policies, but Boston Toastmasters allows members to join any time of the year, with veteran members renewing in September and March.

Boston Toastmasters Celebrates 2015 Race To CC Winners

Members and Officers Gather for Awards Presentation

Boston, MA: On August 26th, Boston Toastmasters honored several members who achieved a Competent Communicator, Competent Leadership, or Advanced Award in communication or leadership over the past year. Attendees of the awards presentation included Brett Burdick, ACB, CL; Amber Knight, CC; Hervert Mendez, CC; and immediate-past President Amniya Shahbozova, CC, ALB. They, along with 10 other members who could not attend, successfully completed the annual Race To CC contest held by Boston Toastmasters.
Held annually between the last Tuesday in January through the last Tuesday in May, the Race To CC contest has provided extra incentive for members to progress in their journeys to become better speakers and leaders. This year, 14 members achieved a total of 16 CC, CL and Advanced Awards. Their hard work helped Boston Toastmasters earn the Toastmasters President’s Distinguished Award for the first time in the club’s 45-year history. The club achieved this award by meeting 9 of 10 club objectives set out by Toastmasters International. These objectives include earning multiple educational awards, signing up new members, having club officers attend training and submitting club dues on-time.
